Steve is former Charlton Athletic FC and Reading FC professional footballer with over 290 premier league and championship appearances. After having to retire through injury at the age of 31  he spent a year recovering before starting to gain the necessary qualifications to allow him to coach at the highest level. Steve  dedicated the last 16 years to coaching and gaining the required UEFA badges. He has a  UEFA A license and passed the course in 2008 and re-validated in 2011, 2014 and 2017. Steve was head coach for the youth team at Brighton and Hove AlbionFC (2009-2011). His role was to develop 16-18 year old scholars and improve them to a standard that would allow them to gain a professional contract with the football club. 11 of the 15 players gained professional contracts in his two years with the club, of which 5 made professional appearances, Lewis Dunk currently plays in the Premier League, Grant Hall became regular in the Championship with QPR, Jake Caskey played regularly for Charlton Athletic FC in League 1 and Mitch Walker has been the regular first team goalkeeper for Dover Athletic in the National Conference.
